The 10 Extreme Challenges for Hospice
In memory of his mother and to raise money for St Peter & St James Hospice, Aslan Steel set himself the challenge of completing 10 extreme gymnastic holds on 10 extreme vehicles in just 10 hours!
With collaboration from the armed forces, McLaren, Harley Davidson, yacht dealerships, museums and vehicle hire businesses, plus the Top Gear test track this was an amazing event that gained a great deal of interest.
Aslan Steel said, “I recently organised and participated in a charity event with the aim to help raise £10,000 for St Peter & St James Hospice, in memory of my mother who lost her battle with cancer in May this year. I am hoping that the money I raise will enable other families to receive the same great care as my mother. The medical and care professionals who looked after my mother are special people.
“Between being diagnosed with cancer and her condition worsening enough for her to be admitted to St Peter & St James Hospice, my mother was able to organise, participate in and support several charity fundraisers that in total managed to raise £5,000 for the hospice. I wish to bring this total to £10,000.”
The challenge took place all over Sussex, starting in East Grinstead, down to Brighton, over to Portsmouth and ultimately ending up at the Top Gear test track for the finale at the Wingz and Wheels festival.
The total distance was nearly 200 miles which was part of the challenge, as Aslan had allowed 30 minutes on each machine to achieve the holds and acquire the pictures and footage, which left only five hours travelling time.
