Restoring Saltdean Lido for future generations

Restoring Saltdean Lido for future generations

Saltdean Lido is one of the finest remaining examples of modernist lidos in the UK.  It has been saved by local residents who have set up the CIC and successfully secured a 60-year lease from Brighton & Hove City Council (the freeholders) to operate the lido site.

With the pools re-opened in June 2017, phase 1 of their project is almost complete.  They successfully welcomed over 40,000 visitors last year and picked up two Brighton & Hove Business Awards – Best New Kid on the Block & Best Hospitality Leisure & Tourism.

Phase 2 is the renovation of the building.  They are working with the Heritage Lottery Fund (National Lottery) to secure £4.2 million whilst Brighton & Hove Council has pledged £700,000.

They have now launched a crowd-funding (March 2018) and need to urgently raise £100,000 before the end of May which is when our HLF bid is assessed. If they can demonstrate they have local and national support for the project we are highly likely to receive the £4.2 million.
