Anne From Eastbourne Gives Away Her Lottery Winnings!
Anne Grayson won £100 supporting the Chestnut Tree House Lottery!
Chestnut Tree House Lottery player, Anne Grayson from Eastbourne won £100 in April. Staff from Chestnut Tree House Lottery visited and spoke to her about why she plays their Lottery and how she is going to spend her prize money.
“You ask me what I am going to do with the money? Well, I will tell you. I want to give it back to Chestnut Tree House. I don’t need anything else. At my age, and I’m, 86 and my husband is 87 – I’m his chief carer, now – we don’t need to collect stuff. We probably won’t be around for much longer. I don’t want gifts, though fresh flowers are always lovely.”
Anne was once a French teacher. “I taught French in Switzerland, in Scotland and London, all over. We lived in Marseille. I still listen to French radio. I love the music of the language.”
“I also miss their enjoyment of Sundays. Sunday for them is not a shopping day. It’s a family day, a day to gather together in the sun.”
It was while visiting a supermarket that “someone told me about Chestnut Tree House. What appealed to me was that this was specifically for children. That’s really important to me, that once children get to the stage where they need a hospice there are people around to help them. I go to their charity shop in Eastbourne and I bought a beautiful vase there and a very lovely summer hat, too. I will always continue to do their lottery, because it’s for such a very good cause.”
Chestnut Tree House uses the money raised by Lottery players to provide life-changing hospice care to local children and families. It costs just £1 a week to play and the Lottery which pays for one in every four days of hospice care.
