Local Charity Set To Host First Ever Hospice Care Job Fair

Local Charity Set To Host First Ever Hospice Care Job Fair

Much loved local charity, St Peter & St James Hospice, will be hosting its first job fair next month in a bid to recruit skilled candidates to a range of roles including nursing, housekeeping and retail positions. Prospective volunteers are also encouraged to attend.

Through its Inpatient Ward, Wellbeing services and specialist community nursing team, the hospice provides expert and compassionate care to local adults living with terminal illness, as well as support for their families and friends.

The job fair, taking place at the hospice site in North Chailey, will include tours of the hospice as well as a presentation and exhibition, offering people the chance to find out more about the hospice and how it helps local families, meet current members of the team and discuss the available roles. There will also be the opportunity to be interviewed for a position of interest on the day.

Barbara Williams, Chief Executive at St Peter & St James Hospice, is looking forward to welcoming potential future employees and volunteers to the charity.

‘There are lots of misconceptions about hospices that can put people off considering us as an employer, but I hope our job fair will demonstrate what a wonderful place to work this is. It’s very uplifting – a place with a focus on living well where we enable people to focus on what matters most to them and to enjoy the best possible quality of life. Many of our team find their roles incredibly rewarding, we offer generous pension contributions and ongoing personal and professional development, as well as flexible working. We’re also based in a beautiful location with stunning views, and have two donkeys on site!

We have various vacancies at the moment across different departments that would suit people with a range of different skills.  We are hoping to meet a diverse group of people at the event, whether in the early stages of their career or out of university, as well as those with more experience who may be seeking change or a new challenge. We hope it’ll be a very informative, inspiring event for everyone who comes along.’

The hospice care job fair will take place on Thursday 6th September from 6pm to 9pm and on Saturday 8th September from midday to 6pm.
