Improving The Quality Of Life For Older People With Brendoncare
As recently reported in the news, West Sussex is now the best place in the country for pensioners to live. Tucked away in East Grinstead in the north east of the county is a lovely care home, which has been supporting older people for over 10 years.
Brendoncare Stildon offers nursing care for up to 32 people in a purpose-built property, divided into smaller households for a more homely feel. The spacious bedrooms are all en-suite and the communal areas are comfortable and welcoming, where residents and their visitors can enjoy activities or simply spend time together.
The home also has a day care centre which supports local people living with dementia at home. This is a flexible service, with people able to use the facilities as a one-off or more regularly for a morning, an afternoon or a full day. The centre offers a full activity programme, as well as one-to-one support. There is also a new wet room within the day care centre.
The quality of care at Stildon has been recognised by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), which rated the home ‘good’ in all five categories during its last inspection. In its report, the CQC commented “People’s privacy and dignity were respected and their independence was promoted.” Earlier this year, Stildon also won a Quality Hallmark Award for end-of-life care from the National Gold Standards Framework Centre, the UK’s largest provider of training in end-of-life care.
Stildon is part of registered charity The Brendoncare Foundation, which has been supporting older people for over 30 years. General Manager at Brendoncare Stildon, Naomi Butcher, commented “The team at Stildon is dedicated to providing the best care to each of our residents, valuing what is important to each person and ensuring their needs and preferences are met each and every day.”
From seaside-themed days, musical entertainment to visiting mobile farms, there is always something happening at Brendoncare Stildon. Food is also important in the home, which has a 5 star rating from the Food Standards Agency. The chef delights in producing nutritious meals for residents and incorporating as many favourite dishes as possible.
The home always welcomes visitors and anyone interested in finding out more about Brendoncare Stildon is invited to pop in and meet Naomi. Alternatively, you can phone the home on 01342 305750 or visit their website www.brendoncare.org.uk/care.
