Greg Bailey and Jude Massey are Ocean Brothers and in January 2018 they will set off from Gran Canaria to row 3,000 miles across the Atlantic to Barbados. The inspiration behind this mammoth task came from the sad passing of their father Pete who died in August 2015 from skin cancer. The boys wanted to raise money for The British Skin Foundation for research and to raise awareness of the perils of the sun.
They have been actively promoting and seeking sponsorship for the last year and will be leaving in early December to finish their training in the waters around Gran Canaria.
The boys are both Vegan and will survive on dehydrated meals and desalinated water created by solar energy. There will be no support boat but their boat is equipped with the latest technology to keep them safe.
This year The Weald Theatre Group have chosen Ocean Brothers as the recipient of their annual Panto Aladdin which takes place at The Clair Hall Haywards Heath from 9th to 13th January.
It is not unusual for any of us to know of a friend or family member who has had to have treatment for some form of skin cancer
