Plumpton Racecourse celebrates new season with free Hepworth beer tasting and free entry for Downton Abbey namesakes ‘Mary’ and ‘George’!

To celebrate the start of the new season at Plumpton Racecourse this Sunday 22nd September, Plumpton today has announced two very special offers for customers attending the Family Raceday.

Firstly the return of the popular TV series Downtown Abbey on ITV the same day at 9pm is being marked by Plumpton’s offer of free entry to the day’s racing to anyone who can prove that they are called ‘Mary’ or ‘George’. Proof of identity will be required at the entrances on the day.

Series 4 of Downton Abbey, set in 1922 around six months after the Christmas special, will focus heavily on the death of Matthew Crawley (played by Dan Stevens) and Lady Mary’s (Michelle Dockery) mourning and her difficulty bonding with her baby George.

The second incentive to attend on the 22nd is the presence of new main drinks supplier, Horsham brewer Hepworth & Co. Hepworth is offering a free tasting session to the general public at 12.45pm until 13.15pm on September 22ndin the Chasers public bar at Plumpton Racecourse where racegoers aged 18 or over can sample the acclaimed range of beers and premium lagers in cask, keg and bottles in all public bars.

Plumpton’s first racemeeting of the new season on Sunday 22nd September also includes a packed programme of family fun activities on the Family Raceday sponsored by, and free entry for accompanied children under 18.
