Schools Competition Success For Sky High Gymnasts

Sky High Trampoline Gymnastic Academy achieved amazing results in the Southern Zonal qualification round on Saturday 18th January in the BSGA (British Schools Gymnastic Association) Competition which was held at Gillingham, Kent.

Eight gymnasts from Sky High represented their schools with the top 3 from each age group going through to the National Schools Finals which will be held in Eastleigh, Southampton on Saturday 14th March.

Gail Andrews, Head Coach, commented, “This is a great opportunity for our gymnasts to give something back to their schools. The gymnasts frequently require the schools support when competing in events throughout the season as often time off is required to attend national and international competitions or for extra training sessions during the day. So to be able to win a medal for the school is very rewarding.”

The Southern Zonal event is always very well attended with 362 gymnasts competing from all over the Southern Region. Meanwhile the Midland and Northern regions were holding their qualification events and we anticipate a very close matched and exciting national final.

Eight Sky High gymnasts competed with 6 qualifying to national finals and 4 gymnasts qualifying in 1st place, the results were as follows:

  • 3rd: Charlotte Wainford – Benenden School, Cranbrook, Kent
  • 1st: Harper Winslet – Rattan School, Eastbourne
  • 1st: Daniel Bradford – Lewes Old Grammar School, Lewes
  • 1st : Milla Winslet – Ocklynge Junior School, Eastbourne
  • 2nd: Sam Plummer – East Hoathly C of E School, East Hoathly
  • 1st: Nick Orwin – Newick C of E School, Newick
  • 7th: Holly Gillon – Little Horsted C of E Primary School, Little Horsted
  • 4th: Pearl Winslet – Ocklynge Junior School, Eastbourne

Gail Andrews, added, “We are all very excited heading into the national schools finals with 6 trampoline gymnasts. They are back in the gym, training and working hard to perfect their next routines, which they will showcase in the final in Eastleigh in March!”
