Brand New Story of Eastbourne Revealed

From 16th February

Heritage Eastbourne tells the 150,000 year ‘Story of Eastbourne’, in this brand new free exhibition. Ranging from pre-history to present day, the exhibition reveals for the first time, the real story of Eastbourne through the eyes of the people who lived it!

Did elephants really roam the south coast? Is there really a Roman villa under the pier? And which famous magic trick was invented in Eastbourne? All are revealed in this child-friendly interactive exhibition which runs until 2020.

Open Tuesdays to Sundays from 10am to 5pm and daily in school holidays, entry is free.

Arlington Stadium, Hailsham

Saturday 16th February, from 4pm

It’s another ‘Saturday Night Race Night’, so come racing at Arlington Stadium, Eastbourne, for another action packed Oval Motorsport meeting. Spedeworth Motorsports present a Triple Formula Feast of racing featuring the competitiveness of the stock rods, a look at the future with the junior micra stock cars and the bangers in their ‘Ice Scraper’ event.

Racing starts at 5pm and turnstiles open at 4pm. If you haven’t been to Arlington Stadium before then this meeting is well worth a trip. The characteristics of the track ensures spectators are close to the action! Facilities at the Stadium include two covered grandstands, one centrally heated, a licensed club house, catering stalls and toilets with disabled access.

During the February half-term, in addition to the interactive hands-on exhibits, daily telescope tours and science shows, the following children’ s workshops will be taking place:

  • Tuesday 19th February: Fun with Chemistry (6-8 years)
  • Wednesday 20th February: Discover Chemistry (9-11 years)
  • Thursday 21st February: Explore the Moon Twilight (9-11 years)

Firewalk in aid of St Wilfrid’s Hospice

Saturday 9th March at 5.30pm

Why not hotfoot over hot coals for St Wilfrid’s Hospice? This exhilarating dash over three metres of 600 degree coals will help raise funds for the hospice through sponsorship. Bring your sponsors along on the night to cheer you on – a bar and barbecue will keep everyone warm!

The event consists of an hour-long talk, to get you in the right mind set and then you’re out in the crowd to strut your stuff. Entry is £25 per person (over 16s only) with a minimum pledge of £150 fundraising. Want to join the fun?
