Crimes on The Nile at The Hawth, Crawley

Tuesday 5th March, 7.30pm

Following 2018’s sell-out smash hit Crimes Under the Sun, multi award- winning theatre company, New Old Friends, return with another hilariously inventive comedy thriller. Belgian detective extraordinaire, Artemis Arinae, is enjoying a cruise along the Nile when tragedy strikes. The passengers and staff are suspects, the murder count is growing, will Arinae’s little grey cells identify the murderer in time?

A cast of just four perform multiple outrageous characters, inventive set pieces and whisk the plot along in an hilarious evening.

Arlington Stadium, Eastbourne

Saturday 16th & 30th March, from 4pm

The ‘Saturday Night Race Nights’, continue at Arlington Stadium, Eastbourne, for more action packed Oval Motorsport. Spedeworth Motorsports present two Triple Formula Feasts of racing featuring the combination of out and out full-contact banger racing combined with the pure racing finesse and speed of non-contact motorsport. It’s the very best of stadium motorsport brought to you by Europe’s leading promoters.

Racing starts at 5:00pm for both meetings and turnstiles open at 4:00pm. If you haven’t been to Arlington Stadium before then this meeting is well worth a trip. The track ensures spectators are close to the action and facilities at the Stadium include two covered grandstands, one centrally heated, a licensed club house, catering stalls and toilets with disabled access.

Mother’s Day Weekend at Hever Castle

Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st March

Show mum you care with a decadent afternoon tea at Hever Castle & Gardens this Mother’s Day. Explore the historic Castle, the childhood home of Anne Boleyn, work up an appetite for a sumptuous tea with a wander around the stunning 125 acre grounds or let the kids run off some energy in the Tudor Towers adventure playground or the Acorn Dell natural play area.

Afternoon tea options are available over the weekend in the Pavilion Restaurant and a luxury afternoon tea will also be served in the beautiful wood panelled Tudor Suite in the Astor Wing adjoining the Castle on Mothering Sunday (pre-booking is essential for both options).

Please note admission to Hever Castle & Gardens is required and is not included in the cost of afternoon tea. Normal entry costs to the Castle & Gardens apply.

Tablehurst Community Farm Lambing Days

Saturdays 30th March & 6th April

Pull up your wellies and get out to your community farm, where the sheep barn is full of baby lambs for you to visit. The farmers will be on hand to tell you a little about what’s different and special about the farming at Tablehurst. The café will be open for breakfast and the Tablehurst barbecue will be in full swing at lunchtime. You can also visit the award-winning farm shop.

Baldwins Travel Solo Traveller Event

A solo traveller does not have to be a lonely traveller – to find out how, why not visit the Baldwins Travel Solo Traveller event on Tuesday 2nd April. Taking place at the Depot in Lewes between 6.30pm and 8.30pm, you’ll have the opportunity to hear about a wide range of travel ideas geared towards people who need to travel independently – whilst meeting local like-minded travellers. Enjoy a drink while listening to some short presentations and then take the opportunity to speak to the Baldwins Travel team about your plans for 2019.

Sussex Guild Contemporary Craft Show in Horsham

Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th April, 10am to 5pm

Come to see exquisitely made jewellery, exciting ceramics, colourful glass, turned wood, bespoke furniture plus a variety of beautifully made crafts.

At the craft shows visitors can meet the professional designer makers, and discuss how their designs are created, order special commissions or make purchases. If you love art and crafts this is an event you should not miss!

Easter Flowers and Lunch at Horsted Place

Tuesday 9th April, 10.30am

Enjoy a delightful morning at Horsted Place Country House Hotel near Uckfield where Clare Wilson of Riverside Flowers, Lewes, will be demonstrating some inspirational ideas for floral decorations for your home and table this Eastertime. Arrive for coffee at 10.30am and, after Clare’s demonstration, take your seats for a delicious lunch with a glass of wine, perhaps followed by a stroll in the gardens which should be springing into life. Hastings Beatles Day at White Rock Theatre, Hastings

Sunday 7th April, 12.00 noon till 10.30pm

This year is the 20th Beatles Day and looks like being the last, as the founder Pete Prescott is stepping down. It’s going to be the biggest event ever and will present over 90 acts on four stages playing The BeatlesMoney raised goes to Macmillan Cancer Support and since Beatles Day began in 2000, it has raised over £275,000 to help people living with cancer in the Sussex area.

Open Day at Piddinghoe Pond with the Newhaven and Seaford Sailing Club

Saturday 13th April, 10am to 4pm

Come and visit the ‘Jewel of Sussex’ and join the Newhaven and Seaford Sailing Club on their tranquil lake. Have a go in a sailing dinghy or powerboat, with female and male instructors of all ages, sailing courses are great fun and popular with both adults and children.

Become a member and have fun sailing on your own or with one of the recreational groups. You can even visit their Seaford clubhouse and café on the beach on Marine Parade, BN25 2QR.

Where else on the south coast can you sit beside the sea, with a glass of something cool in your hand, and watch the sun go down?
